prvić located southeast of krk, separated 800 m wide senj passage (senjska vrata) , geomorphologically considered part of same landform obzova hill, krk s highest peak (578 meters above sea level), forms southwestern part of baška cove coastal town of baška. prvić s southernmost cape Šilo 4 km (2 mi) away mainland crow flies , point closest mainland. harbours nearest prvić sveti juraj, hamlet near senj @ foot of velebit, , baška on island of krk. island shaped steep cliff stretching northwest-southeast , 7.4 km (4.6 mi) long. westernmost point called debeli art , northernmost point cape brezonjin, automatic stražica lighthouse located.


three km (1.9 miles) southwest of prvić island of sveti grgur (or saint gregory, known Šagargur, name in chakavian dialect), separated prvić grgurov kanal (eng: gregory s channel). in addition, 3 kilometres south of prvić s southernmost point, cape Šilo, goli otok (lit. barren island). prvić, both sveti grgur , goli otok today uninhabited, have become infamous places political prisoners sent in informbiro period between 1949 , 1956. used prisons until late 1980s when shut down , abandoned.
