father cairns john gregory s cousin , priest in priestown. tries sway tom sanctimonious speeches god , duty while sending soldiers arrest master. he, of church, prejudiced against spooks believes @ end of apprenticeship sell souls powers , fight small-fry, these supposed influences of bane - because father cairns friend in need spook.

the quisitor

a cruel man cherishes burn things, , seizes belongings poor, or falsely accused witches, burns them alive. noble, shown clothes , behaviour, wealth comes ordinary people killed take goods.

morgan hurst

witches of powerful physical-being forces have been known serve dark. power have advantage of numbers. many of them reside in pendle , belong @ least 1 of 3 clans: malkins, deanes , mouldheels. romania , greece host great number of witches. based on actions, can be:

anne malkin – leader of malkin clan.
bony lizzie – bony lizzie alice s aunt (later discovered mother) , mother malkin s granddaughter. s dangerous witch practicing bone magic, hence nickname bony . trained alice in witchcraft 2 years. caught spook @ end of spook s apprentice escaped in spook s nightmare after reaching 40th birthday.

tibb – kretch (as outlined grimalkin) made balance mab s power. created past halloween before events in spook s battle malkin , deane clans. s powerful scryer, small yet stronger grown man. spook kills him @ norwell s residence after shares wurmalde s plans lammas.

the mouldheel clan practices blood , bone magic , takes pride in members scrying skills. because of them, people in pendle either have no mirrors in house or turn them face wall. mouldheels live in bareleigh village.

mab mouldheel - leader of clan, mab talented foresight. in love tom ward hates because s witch , once kill niece, mary.

she s green eyed , has long blond hair. dressed in washed-out blue dress ragged sleeves. doesn t wear shoes witches, walks barefoot.

she has 2 twin sisters younger her, beth , jennet.

the greek witches

meg skelton - domesticated lamia witch physical characteristics has silver hair, high cheek bones , looks young woman though old. meg used have relationship spook john gregory.
marcia skelton - meg s sister, feral lamia witch locked under spook s winter home. traveled meg home land of greece @ end of spook s secret .
wurmalde - s described tom in late thirties, tall woman, abundant dark hair lion s mane. has bold , piercing eyes , lips pale resembled of corpse contrast obvious strength , vitality. carries herself proudly makes people s above herself. happens 1 of tom s mother s bitter enemies , plans set fiend kill tom. 1 of lamia witches in tom s trunks grabs flees after finishing ritual , drops onto gore rock, killing her.

water witches

water witches hunt burying in mud or marshes , waiting victims. can hold breath hours , unlike normal witches, can cross running or stagnant water. have nail curled around hook use spear ear or cheek of victim.

morwena - water witch, daughter of fiend , more powerful other water witches. practices blood magic , can t stand on dry land more hour. has dark hair down shoulders. around shoulders has smock covered in green scum, while on lower half of body wears ragged skirt caked brown marsh slime. has 2 rows of yellow-green teeth 4 immense fangs instead of normal canines. left eye closed, right 1 open – vertical slit cold eye of snake or lizard – , nose beak of sharp bone without covering of flesh or skin. hands human fingernails, sharp, curved talons. toes webbed , ending in sharp talon. opens left eye touching fingers release seal on it. eye red if filled blood , person looking @ eye becomes paralyzed. eye closed because uses lot of energy , can use on 1 person @ time.

the fiend

the fiend dark made flesh , series primary antagonist. known old nick, devil, satan, , father of lies. has control on time, , can change shape @ will. claims alice deane s father, later proven true tom ward s mam. there few ways keep fiend approaching you, 1 way bear him child, (witches often) , other have blood jar, contain s 1 of fiend s child s blood, , wearer s blood.

in spook s destiny, sealed away spook, grimalkin, , tom. dies in last book body cut , fed god talkus has replaced him powerful old god.

the old gods
golgoth

also known lord of winter , god of ice, awoken morgan through wrong ritual. tries coerce tom freeing him pentagram tom refuses , golgoth runs out of power before can kill tom.

morrigan

the morrigan celtic goddess of magic. appears raven`s head , female body. main antagonist of spook s destiny . although not slain tom, wounded him, head cut off.

ordeen

an elemental goddess of fire, , clear opposite golgoth. true form salamander, powerful form of fire elemental. extremely hard kill, degree of immunity silver. also, unlike other old gods , fiend, doesn t need humans dark earth. tom suggests perhaps done in past her. possibly has fact part witch, part fire goddess, shows both forms.

she has many followers. maenads worship on earth, many more followers come through portal ordeen. these include: vaengir, demons, fire elementals, , dark warriors. fiend mentions there others wake right before ordeen. servants powerful ordeen herself. portal pillar of fire, causes birds , animals flee area.

she killed tom s mother (lamia) during events in spook s sacrifice. mortal enemy of lamia, unknown reasons.

pan

he worshipped irish mages bind him through dark magic body of goat share in madness grabs him.

to tom appears young boy long hair, pale face , pointy, elongated ears , toenails long curl spiral. s talented musician. tom him favor in spook s destiny helping pan commit suicide (killing goat bound to) escape mages ritual. pan returns favor returning alice fiend s realm when tom defeats him , barriers between , pan s realms weaken.

zeus

the leader of old gods , husband of hera. lover of lamia, tom ward s mother. had children lamia, 1 slaughtered hera out of jealousy.

hera

jealous wife of zeus (leader of old gods). slaughtered 1 of infants lamia (tom s mam) bore zeus.

siscoi

siscoi romanian vampire old god, known god of blood . appeared main antagonist of spook s blood . destroyed tom ward after sucking tom s blood, poisonous him.
