academics

nsc s board-approved mission provide educational, social, cultural, economic , civic advancement citizens of nevada. end, college addresses state’s need increased access higher education through teaching practices , support services promote success of largely first-generation, low income, under-represented student population. nevada state college places special emphasis on meeting state’s need highly skilled, well-educated teachers , nurses , offers wide range of baccalaureate degree programs grounded in liberal arts , sciences.


accreditation

in august 2011, nevada state college received independent accreditation @ baccalaureate degree level northwest commission on colleges , universities. northwest commission on colleges , universities approved nsc candidate accreditation in july 2006. since july 2006, nevada state college has filed 2 comprehensive self-study reports commission, , has undergone 3 comprehensive on-site visits commission. since 2002, nevada state college has been operating under accreditation of university of nevada, reno.


tuition , financial aid

for 2014-2015 academic year, nevada residents pay $148.50 per credit tuition, plus student fees. nevada state college offers financial aid in form of grants, scholarships, , loans.


degree programs

nsc offers 26 bachelor s degree programs , 16 minors. of college s bachelor s degree programs include: biology (b.s.), business administration (b.s.), elementary education (b.a.), english (b.a.), environmental , resource science (b.s.), history (b.a.), integrated studies (b.s.), law enforcement (b.p.a.), management (b.a.s.), nursing (b.s.), psychology (b.a.), speech pathology (b.a.), , visual media (b.a.). of college s minor programs include: biology, business, chemistry, communication, counseling (addiction treatment , prevention), ethnic studies, , gerontology.


in fall of 2008, nevada state college launched nevada’s first bachelor of science degree in education of deaf , hard of hearing. program addresses deaf culture , integration of deaf students specific subject areas.


nevada state college partners touro university accommodate students in occupational therapy. through partnership, students complete 3 years of bachelor s degree in occupational therapy science @ nevada state college, transfer touro university final 2 years.

as of latest ipeds diversity report, nevada state college’s full-time faculty 34.2% ethnic/racial minorities highest percentage of of nevada system of higher education institutions.


student enrollment

nsc enrolled 177 students in fall of 2002; in fall of 2010, college enrolled 2,988 students. fall of 2011, nsc enrolled 3,167 students, represents year-over-year 6 percent increase in student enrollments.


degrees awarded

from 2004 (the first year in students eligible graduate nsc) 2010, college has graduated 1,214 students majority of degrees being awarded in fields of nursing , education.
