for many years, longsight has been plagued gang related violence, similar of nearby moss side. of violence came tensions between 2 rival gangs fought turf wars each other since 1990s, resulting in many shootings , several deaths. gooch gang, neighbouring moss side, jailed in 2009, consequently, gun crime in greater manchester whole has fallen dramatically, high of 120 gang-related shootings in 2006 16 in 2011.
