green selected 35th overall pick in 2012 nba draft golden state warriors. on july 30, 2012, signed three-year, $2.6 million contract warriors. in nba debut in warriors season opener on october 31 against phoenix suns, green played 1 minute, made 1 defensive rebound, , committed 1 foul. green gradually received more playing time in subsequent games, in wake of injuries brandon rush , richard jefferson. after getting marginal floor time @ beginning of season, november 22, green playing 15–20 minutes per game, , december 9, green gained bigger role on team, warriors had won 8 of 10 games. on december 12, green made winning layup 0.9 second left in warriors 97–95 win on defending champion miami heat.


in game 1 of first round of 2013 nba playoffs against denver nuggets on april 20, nuggets guard andre miller drove around green , made game-winning layup in nuggets 97–95 win on warriors. improving on three-point percentage , offensive performance on course of series, green helped warriors win first round in 6 games. on may 8, green started game 2 of warriors second-round series against san antonio spurs. in warriors 100–91 victory, warriors first victory in san antonio since 1996–97 season, green started in place of festus ezeli. green played 32 minutes , recorded 5 points on 2-of-8 shooting, 7 rebounds , 5 assists. spurs went on win series 4 games 2, subsequently ending warriors season , playoff run.
