the town s church, dedicated saint clothilde (wife of clovis i, king of franks, whom convinced convert christianity), built in 12th century, in romanesque style, though has been rebuilt. contains relics of name saint. in 13th century abbey built near commune, @ joyenval, , ruins on golf course listed historic monuments in 1989.


in 1789 desert of retz built on site of abandoned , ruined village of saint-jacques-de-retz north of chambourcy, on fringes of forest of marly. romantic garden made of number of follies, including ruined column, pyramid, , chinese pavilion. declared historic monument in 1941.


number 64 of grande rue, called roseraie, built in chambourcy in 18th century. andré derain (one of founders of fauvism) later installed workshop there. house rebuilt in 19th , 20th centuries, , listed historic monument in 1986.
