constitutional changes initiated in 1840 because terms involved united kingdom of netherlands had removed. these constitutional changes included introduction of judicial ministerial responsibility. although policies remained uncontrolled parliament, prerogative controllable now. conservative william not live these constitutional changes. this, disappointment loss of belgium, , william s intention marry henrietta d oultremont (paradoxically both belgian , roman catholic) made him wish abdicate. fulfilled intent on 7 october 1840 , eldest son acceded throne king william ii. william died in 1843 in berlin @ age of 71.
