history
beginning

the predecessor of temperley club de foot-ball centenario established in 1910 commemorate 100th anniversary of revolución de mayo. official establishment of club on 4 november 1912 during meeting held @ club arias. first field of centenario in villa turdera, buenos aires. first jersey red green collar.


in 1917 temperley affiliated argentine football association, same year club decided adopt light-blue colors jersey, temperley s distinctive color date. after being affiliated, team started play @ second division 2 years later. in 1921 club changed name club atlético temperley in 1921. same year institution signed contract rent land $ 20 month.


amateur years , fusion

the squad finished 2nd in 1924.


in 1924 temperley made great campaign finishing 2nd boca juniors. when liga argentina de football merged asociación amateurs argentina de football, club decided disjoin league. time later temperley requested affiliated again, association accepted sending club play @ second division.


in 1932 temperley merged argentino de banfield. new club, renamed argentino de temperley played 1932 1934 in championships organized amateur asociacion argentina de football. when amateur league merged professional league, argentino changed name club atlético temperley has remained since then.


in 1946 club inaugurated concrete-built grandstands of stadium , ten years later new lighting on field. encouraged organization of club s football matches @ night, practise of other disciplines such tennis , netball.


return primera

the 1974 team won first championship promoting primera división.


temperley won first title in 1974 primera b championship, therefore returning primera división. @ playoffs, temperley defeated estudiantes (ba) 3–1 , drew lanús , unión 1–1 scores, finishing first in group 3 points qualifying play @ top division of argentine football after 37 years. team coached jorge ginarte started long-time career coach of lower division teams.


the second promotion in 1982. temperley finished 2nd champion san lorenzo after playing playoff ended final games against atlanta. temperley won first match 2–1 lost @ hand of bohemios second game 1–0. series had defined penalty shot-out , temperley won 13–12 therefore promoting primera división. notable players of team hugo lacava schell, carlos piris, hugo issa, , dabrowski amongst others.


relegation , bankruptcy

temperley s stand on primera did not last time team relegated primera b nacional @ end of 1986–87 losing playoff match platense 2–0. 2 years later team relegated again third division. moreover, in 1991 club went bankruptcy after judge josé maría durañona declared club broken due debt club had football players sindicate amount of us$400,000. institution remained closed 2 years until in 1993 temperley allowed play in primera c, in match against tristán suárez.


promotion , relegations

the next season temperley promoted primera b metropolitana defeating tristán suárez in playoff matches (1–0 , 2–1). mariano biondi coach of team. 1 year later (the 1995–96 season) temperley won 2 consecutive promotion primera b nacional although club did poor campaign being relegated again @ end of tournament. on 31 july 1999 temperley won new promotion nacional b, being coached héctor ostúa.
