the upgraded agm-130 mid-course guidance (mcg) weapon, employs improved global positioning , inertial navigation system. allows weapon used less input launch aircraft, freeing pilot , weapon systems officer other tasks. weapon became operational in 1998 when 2 f-15es 335th , 336th fighter squadrons @ seymour johnson air force base, north carolina, fired 1 weapon each.
the agm-130lw [lightweight] designed used single-seat aircraft such f-16c. has enhanced global positioning , inertial navigation system capability. smaller, less powerful warhead used on weapon allows better control on collateral damage.
