the church of st james great dates 14th century , became grade ii* listed building on 9 june 1967. built of coursed local sandstone rubble freestone dressings , tower believed date 19th century spire late added william chick between 1869 , 1872. east window perpendicular architecture in style , spire of copper covering. ocle priory in vicinity. hereford , gloucester canal traverses southern part of parish. primary school located in ocle pychard in 1967, replaced.
