larry grenadier, 2014


after graduating stanford, grenadier moved boston play vibraphonist gary burton. in 1991, moved new york. continued collaborate of musicians had met during time in boston, such kurt rosenwinkel, joshua redman, mark turner, jorge rossy, , chris cheek. others met first time in new york include bill stewart, kevin hays, renee rosnes, ralph moore, billy drummond, danilo perez, david sánchez, tom harrell , billy hart. grenadier continued association joe henderson, touring band @ times included al foster, renee rosnes , larry willis. spent few months during earlier years in new york playing in betty carter s band.


in 1990s, grenadier first met , played pianist brad mehldau. joined mehldau s trio drummer jorge rossy; toured , recorded more ten years. rossy replaced drummer jeff ballard in 2004.


grenadier has worked guitarist pat metheny, whom toured trio along drummer bill stewart. credits experiences touring metheny s trio significant learning experience.


grenadier has played charles lloyd, chris potter, eric harland, julian lage, taylor eigsti, billy higgins, michael brecker, , paul motian, among many others.


grenadier member of fly, trio includes drummer jeff ballard , tenor saxophonist mark turner. have recorded 3 critically acclaimed albums. tours , records wife, singer-songwriter rebecca martin.


grenadier lives rebecca , son charlie james in hudson valley, north of new york city.
