the stone terminus of richmond railway station, built in tudor/elizabethan style, opened in 1846 , closed in 1968, year before branch line taken out of service. after station closed, building used many years garden centre. has been renovated richmondshire building preservation trust , opened in late 2007 – retitled, simply, station – mixed-use space community , commercial activities. newly renovated station home 2 cinema screens, art gallery , restaurant , café. there artisan food makers on premises: angel s share, archer s jersey ice cream, lacey s cheese, richmond brewing company , velvet heaven.


richmond has frequent bus service darlington , catterick garrison, , wide range of local bus services nearby towns , villages including leyburn, northallerton , barnard castle.
