in 2009 committee set members of local community under guidance of jomo sibisi. intended upgrade ilanda wilds environmental education of local school children, , provide guided walks foreign visitors 2010 world cup. mr. sibisi encouraged municipality deploy field ranger ilanda wilds. field ranger name of musa mfeka deployed ilanda wilds in 2009 prevent grazing of cattle, harvesting of medicinal plants, dumping of rubbish , garden refuse, , protect local wildlife. mr. sibisi intended have zulu village built on floodplain around memorial king shaka s naming of amanzimtoti river traditional zulu items sold tourists. building of village intended show how area in old days , advised building of village not pass environmental impact assessment (if 1 conducted), , there had never been zulu village @ site when king shaka passed through area. mr. sibisi allegedly supervised cutting of unidentified tree below cliffs in ilanda wilds wooden stage built traditional dancing , church choirs perform in centre of ilanda wilds. old parking area enlarged soil , rubble, , indigenous trees partially covered over, facilitate parking area big enough school buses turn around in, , local company donated park home used museum , environmental education facility. no environmental impact assessments done concerning these developments. park home subsequently vandalized, , local sangomas or inyangas defaced muti out of revenge being chastised debarking local trees medicinal use. other intentions of members of committee develop motorbike track in reserve, concrete boating slip-way, , restaurant on top of cliffs. alien plant control allegedly encouraged mr. sibisi, in process indigenous vegetation in form of large dalbergia obovata specimens mistaken invasive pereskia aculeata , cut , poisoned, resulting in rapid growth of real pereskia. committee collapsed in late 2009 due lack of support community , lack of support , feedback municipality. field ranger redeployed in mid-2010 silverglen nature reserve. herd of 29 cattle subsequently free overgraze floodplain areas, despite appeals metro police, municipality , cow herder. sangomas , inyangas freely use area collect muti , conduct ceremonies involving placing muti in river, vomiting in river, , slaughtering chickens , goats in reserve , spreading remains around left rot. 1 inyanga claimed:

man (jomo sibisi) bought place has run away - municipality says free want here.

it has since emerged ilanda wilds not official nature reserve , (in 2010) not on list of nature reserves proclaimed ethekwini municipality. area instead zoned in part coastal bush , in part public open space municipality:

knowledge reserve never proclaimed in terms of protected areas act, rather municipal reserve.

during 2010, local group entitled friends of amanzimtoti green areas has been undertaking keep eye on ilanda wilds report on problems there , encourage municipality take better care of area rich biodiversity, intention have ilanda wilds proclaimed official nature reserve, , have center of conservancy. according sibusiso mkhwanazi (manager of natural resources @ ethekwini):
