in january 1985, timpanogos division of uta (which served provo , orem) began operations. on 4 years later uta opened customer service center within university mall, inside northeast entrance. new service center open 5 hours each regular shopping day. decade later, negotiations underway between city of orem , uta regarding transit center. however, took several more years before uta completed mount timpanogos transit center. new transit center built east of mall (just across parking lot , east of former service center) , officially opened on 20 august 2000.
the mount timpanogos transit center primary transfer center uta buses in utah county and, @ 1 point, busiest stop within of uta s system. transit center s role hub decreased following extension of frontrunner commuter rail south provo in 2012 , increased number of routes connecting @ utah valley university. example, many years prior southern extension of frontrunner, of bus routes connected utah county salt lake county included stop @ transit center. following commuter rail extension, not sole remaining bus route (route 811) connected 2 counties stopped @ mount timpanogos transit center. (nothwithstanding, several years later service route 811 restored transit center.)
