the chiricahua divided 2 groups after released being prisoners of war. majority moved mescalero reservation , form, larger mescalero political group, mescalero apache tribe of mescalero apache reservation, along lipan apache. other chiricahua enrolled in fort sill apache tribe of oklahoma, headquartered in apache, oklahoma.
