the issc leads number of flagship activities , partner on many collaborative initiatives.


world social science report

the issc produces world social science report every 3 years, part of strategic partnership unesco. reports aim address important social science challenges, take stock of social science contributions , capacities, , make recommendations future research, practice , policy.



the world social science report 2010: knowledge divides prepared issc , published unesco in june 2010. reviewed social science knowledge production , use in different regions of world , assessed how social sciences evolving in face of unequal conditions , diverging trends.
the world social science report 2013: changing global environments prepared issc , co-published unesco , oecd. launched @ unesco in paris in november 2013.
the world social science report 2016: challenging inequalities – pathways world prepared issc in collaboration institute of development studies (ids), , co-published unesco. launched in stockholm on september 22 2016.

world social science forum

the issc regularly convenes world social science forum. these events gather researchers, funders, policymakers, , other stakeholders debate topics of global significance , determine future priorities international social science.



the issc convened first ever world social science forum in bergen, norway, 10-12 may 2009, on topic 1 planet - worlds apart?
the second world social science forum, social transformations , digital age , took place in montreal, canada, in october 2013.
the third world social science forum, transforming global relations world , took place in durban, south africa, 13-16 september 2015.
the fourth world social science forum take place in fukuoka, japan, in september 2018. theme security , equality sustainable futures .

transformations sustainability

transformations sustainability (t2s) research programme supporting social-science-led research on social transformations greater sustainability. programme funded swedish international development cooperation agency (sida) , has supported 38 seed projects (september 2014 march 2015) , 3 transformative knowledge networks (december 2015 december 2018). programme aims build on networks of knowledge gathered through seed projects , transformative knowledge networks create , leave behind lasting global knowledge base.

from 2012 2015 issc led world social science fellows programme, international scientific programme support early-career researchers in social sciences, aim of fostering new generation of globally-networked research leaders collaborate in addressing global problems particular relevance low , middle income countries.
