from 1882 1886 name claimed mathushek & kinkeldey, @ 210 east 129th street, new york, had been founded frederick mathushek s grandson victor hugo mathushek (who had changed surname doehler legally in 1876) , joined charles kinkeldey, former superintendent (john b.) dunham & sons, had failed unexpectedly toward end of 1880. v. h. mathushek became sole owner of company in 1886 , firm became mathushek & son, located @ 108 east 125th street , 242-244 east 122nd street , showed $35,000 in assets in 1887, in april, 1888 company turned on assignors.


mathushek & son incorporated under laws of new york in 1890, directed frederick , victor hugo mathushek, , charles , c. albert jacob, of piano manufacturers jacob brothers, founded them in 1877 in new york.


frederick mathushek died november 9, 1891 @ 242 west 123rd street, had lived grandson 5 years. had been superintendent @ mathushek & son, @ 344 , 346 east 23rd street.


victor hugo mathushek continued develop designs grandfather s, , received patents soundboard construction in 1891 (the duplex sounding board) , 1895, , metallic frames in 1896.
