milton garber, brother (bert a. garber), , father (martin garber) participated in land run of 1893, establishing town of garber, oklahoma, named after father. admitted bar in 1893 , commenced practice of law in guthrie, oklahoma, oklahoma capitol. father , brother operated general store.
he established northwest oklahoma junior livestock show, maintaining interest in agriculture. partial owner of oxford hotel , enid radiophone company, assisting in establishment of radio station kcrc. m.c. garber , b.a. garber opened garber oil fields.
judicial positions (1902-1912)
following resignation of james k. beaucamp, m.c. garber appointed probate judge of garfield county in 1902 , subsequently elected in 1904. appointed associate justice of supreme court of territory of oklahoma , trial judge of fifth judicial district in 1906, serving in these capacities until oklahoma became state. garber elected judge of twentieth judicial district in 1908 , served until 1912, when resigned pursue private law practice.

he served mayor of enid, oklahoma 1919 1921. during tenure, convention hall constructed memorialize garfield county world war veterans.
congressional service (1923-1933)
garber elected 5 terms republican united states congress. served in sixty-eighth through seventy-second congresses (march 4, 1923 – march 3, 1933). in 1932, failed win re-election seventy-third congress. e. w. marland, democrat of ponca city, oklahoma succeeded him in office. while in office, garber served on following committees: expenditures in interior department, indian affairs, irrigation , reclamation, public buildings , grounds, roads, , interstate , foreign commerce.
enid publishing company
in 1920, garber purchased enid morning news later merged enid eagle in 1923. became editor , co-publisher of enid publishing company, maintaining active role following congressional career. son milton b. garber later became editor.
