rösler joined fdp , political youth organization, young liberals, in 1992. secretary of fdp in state of lower saxony 2000 2004 , served chairman of fdp parliamentary group in lower saxon state assembly 2003. 2001 2006, rösler member in regional assembly of hanover (district), deputy chairman of parliamentary group. in may 2005, elected observer of federal fdp executive committee. received 95% of votes, best result of party conference. @ state party conference in march 2006, rösler elected chairman of lower saxon fdp 96.4% of votes; succeeded walter hirche, had decided step down after twelve years @ helm. in april, 2008, rösler confirmed lower saxon fdp party chairman, receiving 95% of votes.


at federal party conference in june 2007, rösler re-elected member of party executive committee. following month, elected stand party’s main candidate in lower saxon state election in january 2008. in election, received 10.9% of votes in local constituency, hanover-döhren. on 18 february 2008, rösler appointed state minister economic affairs, labour , transport deputy minister-president in cabinet of minister-president christian wulff of lower saxony.
